Baylor enters Big 12 play facing one of the nation’s toughest slates, with a brutal conference schedule that will test the Bears from start to finish.

Baylor men’s basketball erased much of a second-half deficit but came up short in a 69-63 loss at TCU on Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena to open its conference season.

Taliah Scott hit the winning shot with 2.9 seconds left and scored all 21 of her points in the second half, leading No. 22 Baylor past No. 10 Iowa State 72-70.

After starting the season 10-2, Baylor will now start Big 12 play. On Saturday, the Bears will head to TCU for their first test in the new-look conference and the Horned Frogs have been solid, too. TCU, like Baylor, has 10 wins.

Dynamic point guard Jada Williams led ISU with a career-high 28 points, but needed 28 field goal attempts to reach that mark. Baylor (13-3, 2-1) decided late in the first half to put a hard double team on Crooks — who scored 14 points in 6-for-6 shooting in the first quarter — and leave Williams open looks on the perimeter.
