DENVER — The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert on Thursday as snow and colder temperatures will impact the Front Range, Denver metro area and Colorado mountains. Wednesday will be mild and dry in Denver, with upper 50s for high temperatures. Denver's average high temperature in early January is between 44-45 degrees.
Grab your snow shovels and dust off your gloves. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for swaths of Northern and Western New Mexico through Friday morning. Back-to-back storm systems moving through the state are predicted to bring 3 to 6 inches of snow to some lower-elevation areas — a first for a winter so far marked by unseasonable warmth.
Snow is forecast to start in Denver as early as 5 a.m. Thursday and continue until as late as 10 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
