Matt Cardona (not Zack Ryder) is back in WWE. Appearing on the first 2026 episode of SmackDown, Cardona was the surprise opponet for Kit Wilson. The WWE announce crew, and the graphic during his entrance, clarified that he was now going by his legal name, Matt Cardona. He picked up his first win six and a half years ago.

On this week’s WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre were scheduled to fight over the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Three Stages of Hell match.

Cody Rhodes is no longer the Undisputed WWE Champion as Drew McIntyre dethroned him on SmackDown in a high-profile Three Stages of Hell match.

After the less-than-stellar state SmackDown found itself in for the better part of 2025, moving the show back to three hours at the onset of 2026 was hardly the correct course of action.
